Soldier experienced the chaos in Kabul

Sergeant Major Gaz McMahon, 39, has served in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan where, during his second tour in 2008, he walked away uninjured from an IED explosion under his vehicle.

The paratrooper is now deployed at an evacuation compound in Kabul, where he and his comrades are working with US troops to try to differentiate which countries the arriving evacuees should be going to.

Sgt Maj McMahon, who previously scaled Mount Everest to raise awareness for charity Combat Stress, admitted it is an almost impossible task and the whole experience has been tough on his men.
