Steel strong enough for the Peter Marsh

The eight-year-old reappeared in November with a fine second over the Peter Marsh course and distance and his Wetherby performance indicates that he's capable of winning the prestigious Grade 2 at the weekend

Last year's winner Navajo Pass is entered in the New One Unibet Hurdle at Haydock on Saturday but the Donald McCain-trained sixyear-old has been well beaten on his two starts this season and the 1m7½f Grade 2 contest can go to Tommy's Oscar for Ann Hamilton's Northumberland yard.

The seven-year-old has gone from strength to strength this season, winning handicaps on his last three starts including at the Merseyside track, and he stands out.

Nick Alexander has a highly promising sixyear-old on his hands in Donny Boy and he can maintain his unbeaten record in the Sky Bet Supreme Trial Rossington Main Novices' Hurdle at Haydock on Saturday.

After winning his sole point-to-point, Donny Boy has posted smooth success in a bumper at Kelso and a maiden hurdle at Newcastle, and he can take the step up in class in his stride in the Grade 2 event over 1m7½f.
