Alberta's government is providing record funding to Alberta's 48 housing providers for operating community housing across the province through Budget 2024.
Alberta's government is committed to ensuring vulnerable and low-income Albertans have access to a roof over their head and a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home - and Alberta's housing providers are a key part of that commitment.
Budget 2024 commits an increase of $21 million in operating funding to Alberta's housing providers, which means they will receive a total of $75 million in 2024-25. This funding will keep units open and help cover rising day-to-day expenses such as utilities, supplies and staffing.

More than 110,000 Albertans currently live in more than 60,000 government-subsidized homes, and with the cost of living rising, demand is rapidly growing.
Affordable housing providers across the province do critical work to ensure low-income Albertans have access to safe, stable, affordable homes that meet their needs. Alberta's government is committed to helping these providers mitigate rising costs and inflationary pressures so they can continue to help low-income Albertans find the homes they need in communities across the province.
