Students to be given head start at Queens

The innovative "Sports and Recreation Skills for Work" class will offer students a glimpse behind the scenes of running a football club and essential sports skills

Running for 12 weeks through to June, the programme will also provide students with the opportunity to take part in match day activities in and around Palmerston.

The club's commercial manager, Dan Armstrong, said: "It is great to have a further partnership with the college and it's a further strand to what we as a football club can offer to our community.

"This will build confidence for young people and get them in a practical environment where they can learn to work behind the scenes of a football club.

"It'll look at facility management, health and safety, first aid, taking on the breakfast club and leading on coaching sessions.

"That's where a lot of the assessments will come in - they will be practical assessments.

"So hopefully it suits people that aren't as comfortable writing theory or in a test environment but prefer to be hands-on and learn practically."
