The Superannuation (Admission to Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972) (No. 3) Order 1997

The Minister for the Civil Service, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(5) and (8)(a) of the Superannuation Act 19721and now vested in him2, hereby makes the following Order:—

S-1 This Order may be cited as the Superannuation (Admission to...

1. This Order may be cited as the Superannuation (Admission to Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972) (No. 3) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 7th April 1997.

S-2 The office of the social fund Commissioner for Great Britain is...

2. The office of the social fund Commissioner for Great Britain is hereby added to the offices listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972 with effect from 1 June 1995.

S-3 The office of the social fund Commissioner for Northern Ireland...

3. The office of the social fund Commissioner for Northern Ireland is hereby added to the offices listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972 with effect from 1 June 1995.

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order adds—

(a) the office of the social fund Commissioner for Great Britain, and

(b) the office of the social fund Commissioner for Northern Ireland

to the offices listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972 so that section 1 of that Act (under which the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme, the Civil Service Additional Voluntary Contribution Scheme and the Civil Service Compensation Scheme have been made) may apply to them.

Provision for the appointment of the social fund Commissioner for Great Britain was made by section 65 of the Social Security Administration Act 1992 (c. 5).

Provision for the appointment of the social fund Commissioner for Northern Ireland was made by section 63 of the Social Security Administration (Northern Ireland) Act 1992 (c. 8).

Under the power conferred by section 1(8)(a) of the Superannuation Act 1972 this Order takes effect from 1 June 1995.
