Susanna Reid have referred to Kate Garraway as a 'tower of strength' after her incredibly moving documentary Finding Derek aired on Tuesday night,

Viewers' hearts broke within moments of the one-off programme started as Kate held up her phone to show a video of her talking to husband Derek Draper as he lay in a coma in hospital.

Former Labour aide Derek has now been in hospital for a whole year after contracting coronavirus and in Finding Derek Good Morning Britain host Kate gave camera access to her home to see how she and her children Darcy and Billy coped with Derek's battle.

Viewers also saw candid phone chats between Kate and Derek, one which moved many to tears as Kate Garraway vows to 'save' husband Derek in traumatic moment from Finding Derek after he told her there was "no way out."

Everyone who watched it was in awe of Kate's bravery, including her GMB colleague Susanna.

Taking to Twitter early on Wednesday, before cameras rolled on Wednesday's show, Susanna wrote: "She is a tower of strength, courage and love."
