The news is not so glum for the newcomer to the streaming space Disney, which added an astounding 7.9m new users to its platform over the first three months of this year. That brings the total to 87.6m subscribers worldwide, each paying around £8-a-month for the privilege

No wonder they can churn out instant classic blockbusters like the new Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi… or so you would think.

It turns out the high production values of their shows and the rapid rate they're churning them out actually means Disney+ is still losing money, and the rate it is losing money has accelerated.

And, despite the gloomy numbers from Netflix, it's also worth noting it remains the big beast in the ring with 220m subscribers globally.
