Terriers sign City duo for Academy

Huddersfield-born Terriers fan Helliwell is a central midfielder, while Leeds-born Philpott can play at number 10 or on the wings.

Both were released by City and have already turned out for the Terriers' under-17s as trialists.

The pair follow in the footsteps of current Town right-back Demeaco Duhaney, who has made 19 first-team appearances since joining from City in 2018, as well as former skipper Tommy Smith, who joined the Terriers in 2012 having come through the academy at the Etihad Stadium.

Town's head of academy recruitment Lee Mellor said: "We're delighted to have confirmed our first new scholars for next season.

"Part of the recruitment strategy in our academy model is to sign local players that have been released from top category 1 academies.

"Dylan and Cian fit this bill, coming from a top academy in Manchester City, and have qualities that fit the club's style of play and ethos.
