The A249 Trunk Road (Iwade Bypass to Queenborough Improvement) (Prohibition of Left and Right Hand Turns) Order 2006

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 1(1), 2(1), 2(2) and 122A of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 19841, and of all powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

S-1 This Order may be cited as the A249 Trunk Road (Iwade Bypass to...

1. This Order may be cited as the A249 Trunk Road (Iwade Bypass to Queenborough Improvement) (Prohibition of Left and Right Hand Turns) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 30th May 2006.

S-2 In this Order: “the new Trunk Road” means the carriageway of...

2. In this Order:

“the new Trunk Road” means the carriageway of the A249 Trunk Road which the Secretary of State proposes to construct on the Isle of Sheppey at Queenborough, in the Borough of Swale, in the County of Kent;

and

“Main Road (B2007)” means the length of road known as Main Road from its junction with the existing A249 Trunk Road known as Queenborough Road and the A250 also known as Queenborough Road.

S-3 Save as provided in article 4 below, no person shall cause or...

3. Save as provided in article 4 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle—

(1) to turn right into Main Road (B2007) from the southbound carriageway of the new Trunk Road,

(2) to turn right into Main Road (132007) from the northbound carriageway of the new Trunk Road;

or

(3) to turn left into the new Trunk Road from the westbound carriageway of Main Road (B2007).

S-4 The provisions of article 3 above shall not apply to— a vehicle...

4. The provisions of article 3 above shall not apply to—

(a) a vehicle being used for police, ambulance or fire brigade purpose;

or

(b) anything done at the direction of, or with the permission of, a police constable in uniform.
