Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 2(2) of the Child Abduction and Custody Act 19851, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) (Amendment) Order 2020 and comes into force on 12th March 2020.

2. In the Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) Order 19862, for Schedule 1 substitute Schedule 1 as set out in the Schedule to this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) Order 1986 ( S.I. 1986/1159) (“the 1986 Order”).

This Order substitutes a new Schedule 1 for the existing Schedule 1 to the 1986 Order, adding Dominican Republic to the list of Contracting States to the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, done at The Hague on 25th October 1980 (Cm.33). The date of the coming into force of the Convention as between the United Kingdom and Dominican Republic is 21st February 2020.

An Impact Assessment has not been prepared for this instrument because there is no, or no significant, impact on business in the United Kingdom.
