The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3(1) of the Geneva Conventions and United Nations Personnel (Protocols) Act 20091, makes the following Order.

1. This Order may be cited as the Geneva Conventions and United Nations Personnel (Protocols) Act 2009 (Commencement No.2) Order 2010.

2. Section 2 of the Geneva Conventions and United Nations Personnel (Protocols) Act 2009 (amendments of the United Nations Personnel Act 1997) shall come into force 28th July 2010.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force section 2 of the Geneva Conventions and United Nations Personnel (Protocols) Act 2009, which make certain amendments to the United Nations Personnel Act 1997. This will enable the United Kingdom to accede to the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Safety of United Nations and Associated Personnel, adopted on 8 December 2005 (Cm.7733).

The following provisions of the Act have been brought into force by commencement order made before the date of this Order:
