The
King's Gold
Medal:
Awards in
the Police Essay Competition.
THE
Council of the Police Gold Medal Essay Competition
have the honour to present their report on the Competition
which closed on the rst November, 1930.
The
subject
was:
'The
Training of Police; the progress made in this
direction in the post-war period, with suggestions
for the future.'
The
standard of the essays submitted was not so high as
in the previous year and there were fewer essays.
It
was
evident that the competitors had taken considerable trouble in
the preparation of the essays;
but
as no single essay came up
to the standard which, in the opinionofthe Council, is required
for the Gold Medal, the Council regret that they are unable
to make any recommendation for His Majesty's gracious
approval for the award of the Gold Medal for the 1930
Competition.
The
Council award the Second Prize of twenty guineas to
ARTHUR
CAIN,
Police Constable, Metropolitan Police;
and the
Third
Prize of ten guineas to
WALTER
R.
JONES,
Inspector, Birkenhead Borough Police.
The
essays of the following deserve
'Honourable
Mention'
