The Overseas Territories (Change of Name) (No. 7) Order 2011

The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 2(1) of the Carriage by Air Act 19611, section 108 of the Civil Aviation Act 19822, section 39 of the Aviation Security Act 19823, section 51 of the Aviation and Maritime Security Act 19904, and section 26(5) of the Merchant Shipping and Maritime Security Act 19975is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is ordered, as follows:

S-1 Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Overseas Territories (Change of Name) (No. 7) Order 2011 and shall come into force on 14th January 2012.

S-2 Amendment of certain instruments

Amendment of certain instruments

2.—(1) Schedule 2 to the Civil Aviation Act 1982 (Overseas Territories) (No. 2) Order 20016and schedules 1 and 3 to the Aviation Security and Piracy (Overseas Territories) Order 20007are amended by substituting for the words “St Helena and Dependencies” the words “St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha”.

(2) Schedule 2 to the Tokyo Convention Act 1967 (Overseas Territories) Order 19688is amended by –

(a)

(a) deleting, after the words “Falkland Islands”, the words “(Colony and Dependencies)”;

(b)

(b) inserting in the list of territories, in the appropriate alphabetical position, “South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands”; and

(c)

(c) substituting for the words “St Helena and its Dependencies” the words “St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha”.

(3) Schedule 1 to the Carriage by Air (Parties to Convention) Order 19999is amended—

(a)

(a) by substituting for the words “St Helena” the words “St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha”; and

(b)

(b) by deleting the words “St Helena Dependencies”.

This Order amends certain statutory instruments relating to civil aviation to reflect the current names of the British overseas territories of St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
