Transitional Payments Prolongation (Unemployed Persons) Act, 1932

(22 & 23 Geo. 5.) CHAPTER 19.

An Act to extend until the expiration of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1930, the period in respect of which transitional payments may be made in certain cases under the Unemployment Insurance (National Economy) (No. 2) Order, 1931.

Be it enacted by the King's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Extension of period in respect of which transitional payments may be made in certain cases.

(1) Subject as hereinafter provided, for the purpose of determining the rights of any person to transitional payments under the Unemployment Insurance (National Economy) (No. 2) Order, 1931, subsection (2) of section fourteen of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1927 (as amended by subsequent enactments), shall be read as if for any reference therein to a period of forty-eight months after the commencement of that Act there were substituted a reference to a period expiring at the time when the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1930, ceases to have effect:

Provided that no transitional payment shall be made by virtue of this subsection in respect of any day after the expiration of the said period as so extended.

(2) Any increase resulting from the operation of this section in the sums payable into the Unemployment Fund under Article 8 of the said Order in respect of the cost of transitional payments and administrative expenses attributable to such payments shall be defrayed out of moneys provided by Parliament, and the provisions of the said Article shall have effect accordingly.
