More than 150 schools have had to fully close on Monday January 25 after snow and ice hit the county at the weekend following floods at the end of last week and on Saturday.

While schools have been closed to most pupils since the Christmas holidays, vulnerable youngsters and children of key workers have been able to attend this year.

Now floods, snow and ice has made conditions ‘treacherous’ around more than 150 schools which have stayed shut.

One school, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Droitwich, has also closed ‘due to fire’, while eight schools have cited floods nearby as a result of Storm Christoph, which led to surge in river levels at the weekend for their closures.

These are Cutnall Green CE First School in Droitwich, Lindridge St Lawrence’s CE Primary School in Tenbury, Pinvin CE First School and St Nicholas’ CE Middle School in Pershore, Pitmaston CE First School in Worcester, Rushwick CE Primary School in Malvern, The Bewdley School in Bewdley, which has flood water on its site., and Upton-upon-Severn CE Primary School in Upton.

Pershore in Wychavon was -7 degrees Celsius this morning according to the Environment Agency's Dave Throup -making it the third coldest place in Britain.
