Two people 'rushed' to hospital after explosion at Scots home

Emergency services raced to Baberton Mains Avenue on Friday night following the blast, where two people were pulled from the wreckage

Locals across the capital reported "feeling their homes shake" and heard the blast from more than a mile away.

An eyewitness told the Daily Record the couple "appeared to be conscious" after being rescued from the remains of the house.

The cause of the explosion and the extent of injuries of those affected by the incident are currently unknown.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 10.25pm on Friday, 1 December, 2023 we were called to reports of an explosion at a property on Baberton Mains Avenue in Edinburgh.

"Emergency services are at the scene, and we would advise people to avoid the area at this time."
