A YOUTH football chairman has spoken with pride at the fact Ponteland United now have a dedicated pathway for both boys and girls to continue their football development all the way through to adulthood.

Ponteland United have numerous youth teams taking part in the Chronicle's Kits for Kids scheme, with the club placing a big emphasis on ensuring young players always have a place to compete in football. Paul Brooks says the club is about community as much as it is about football, especially at youth level.

He said: "It's all about the fun and the friendship, it's not necessarily all about the competition, but about the opportunity for the kids to come together, socialise and build those friendships and relationships and being able to watch them develop as a young person.

"I think there's no better place than in sport and in football.

"We've got 45 teams aging from under-5s development, right through to adults, senior male and women's football teams.
