Clothes, towels, sheets, blankets, curtains and paired shoes may all be donated in bags in the yellow-coloured clothes' bank.

Soiled rags, carpets, rugs, glass, metal items, paper, rubbish and duvets should not be donated.

Within 24 hours of opening the clothes bank was almost full.

People are asked that if they cannot fit their donated bags into the clothes bank they should take their bags back home.

They are asked not to leave their bags piled around the bank.

Once the clothes bank has been emptied people will be notified via Facebook.

The recycling service is entirely operated by the Air Ambulance Service and 100 per cent of the proceeds raised from the sale of the donations goes directly back into the charity.

Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance provides a helicopter emergency service to rapidly respond to medical emergencies.

Every day of the year, the local air ambulance for Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland is helping save more lives. Their critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of five rescue missions a day. They receive no government funding for their daily

missions.

Voluntary support and donations keep the service flying.

POST OFFICE IN PUB CAR

PARK. Temporary Post Office services will start in a local pub car park in Kegworth on Saturday this weekend, December 12.

Kegworth Parish Council and the Red Lion Public House in High Street in the village have announced the reinstatement of temporary Post Office services in the pub car park from 10am until 12 noon on December 12.

A wide range of Post Office products and services will be available and customers will be able to collect benefits in cash using the Post Office banking services or the Post Office card account.

Parking will be available in the Red Lion car park to facilitate easy access for wheelchair users and those with disabilities.

The temporary arrangements will continue while a permanent solution to Post Office services in the village is resolves.

Anybody with questions about the temporary service is asked to contact the Parish Council clerk@ kegworthparishcouncil.gov. uk or call 01509 670204 FOOD PARCELS. In the spirit of festive good-will Christmas food parcels are to be distributed in Kegworth to local residents who are aged 75 and over.

The village group ONEKegworth has a list of more than 150 local elderly people who live in the village and they will be receiving the food parcels.

ONEKegworth is a group of like-minded people who want to bring Kegworth together as one. The committee is made up of village residents, business owners, professionals and university students who are

all passionate about where they live.

The group aims to organise a variety of events throughout the year including the Christmas in the Market Place, Easter Charter Market, One Kegworth event in June and a Picnic in the Park in the

summer.

By working with each other they aim to bring the community together to have fun and try new things. They also want to attract visitors to the village and show them all what Kegworth to offer.

One of the group's main aims is to support local businesses, clubs and societies to showcase the wide range of activities we have available in Kegworth. The events are accessible and fun for everyone and are not to be missed VIRTUAL CHRISTMAS MARKET. Local businesses in Kegworth and the surrounding area are being invited to take part in a special local virtual Christmas market.

A special page on Facebook is being reserved for local businesses that offer items or services one would expect to see at a Christmas Market.

The virtual Christmas Market is free to join and specifically for Christmas Market related goods.

CHRISTMAS TRAIL.

Windows, doorways and gardens are to be decorated in Kegworth in a festive theme as part of the village Christmas Trail.

Villagers were encouraged to email their addresses to hello@onekegworth.co.uk so that a map of all the decorated local homes and businesses could be published.

For Hallowe'en more than 80 locations in the village took part in the spooky trail and the ONEKegworth

organisers are hopeful that at least a similar number of businesses and residents will take part in the Christmas event.

To encourage people to get involved Hunt the Elf will be part of the event which will take place on December 12 and 13.

Social distancing rules will apply as villagers get into the Christmas spirit, viewing the decorated houses and businesses.

POPPY FUNDRAISER. Although the proposed Poppy Day fund raiser for Kegworth from the ONEKegworth group has to be called offbecause of the coronavirus pandemic restrictions, there will still be an attempt for an event of some sort for the same cause.

The event was due to be held in the Market Place at Kegworth but organiser Julie Cooke said due to the current situation the pop up event had had to be.

"We will hold it for RBL when safe to do so," she told the Echo.

The Royal British Legon will this year have lost out tremendously on its income for the annual Poppy Day appeal and they will particularly welcome any support for their annual effort, Meanwhile the efforts of the enterprising ONEKegworth group have been centred on its creation of the Kegworth Food Bank or Kegworth Larder.

KEGWORTH COMMUNITY LIBRARY. Christmas, in whatever shape it may be this year, is definitely on the way. In my book it's now ok to have mince pies in the shops and Frosty the Snowman playing on the radio. But not Slade, Merry Christmas Everybody. No, not ever. So you'll be needing stamps for all those Christmas cards you'll be

sending to people you won't be able to see and we have them for sale at the library (the stamps, not the people you won't be able to see). First and second class, buy just one or a whole book. And did you know that first class stamps are going up by a whopping 9p, from 76p to 85p on the first of January? Second class by just a penny, but hey, look after the pennies etc etc. So why not buy a few extra now so that you can feel smug in the New Year.

Some more books in our new-to-you Book Shop - it's the only one in the village - that might appeal to you. A couple of box sets, one with ten books by Elly Griffiths featuring the forensic archaeologist Dr Ruth Galloway and one with seven Roald Dahl books - for adults ! Yes, not a BFG amongst them ! Over in non-fiction you may be attracted to - I know I was ! - The World Atlas of Wine or perhaps 1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die.

I'd take your time over that one or the last part of the title may come sooner than you think, but on the other hand, we're in Tier 3 and the pubs aren't open…….and up until Christmas the bookshop is expanding and our 50p bargain books will be making a guest appearance. There will be Christmas books to get you in the mood and an ever changing selection of general fiction. Who knows, if the weather is right there may well be a pop-up stall in the car park too.
