Commercial vehicle manufacturer Volvo Group (STO:VOLVB) on Wednesday unveiled the world's first vehicle made of fossil-free steel.

The steel from SSAB (STO:SSABA) (HEL:SSABBH), a Nordic and US-based steel company, was produced using HYBRIT technology, which uses 100% fossil-free hydrogen instead of coal and coke.

SSAB, Swedish mining company LKAB and Swedish power company Vattenfall created HYBRIT (Hydrogen Breakthrough Ironmaking Technology) in 2016 with the aim of developing a technology for fossil-free iron- and steel-making.
