The Water Authorities (Transfer of Functions) (Appointed Day)

The Secretary of State for the Environment and the Secretary of State for Wales, acting jointly in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 4(1) of the Water Act 1989 (a) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:-

1.This Order may be cited as the Water Authorities (Transfer of Functions) (Appointed Day) Order 1989.

2.1st September 1989 is appointed as the transfer date for the purposes of section 4 of the Water Act 1989.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order appoints 1st September 1989 as the transfer date for purposes of section 4 of the Water Act 1989.

On the transfer date the functions of water authorities become, in accordance with the Act, functions either of the National Rivers Authority established by the Act or of water or sewerage undertakers under schemes for the division of the property, rights and liabilities of water authorities between the National Rivers Authority and the undertakers.
