The Water (Consequential Amendments) Regulations 1989

Coming into force 27th November 1989
The Secretary of State for the Environment, and the Secretary of State for Wales, being satisfied that it is expedient by reason of the coming into force of provisions of the Water Act 1989to make additional consequential amendments of the public general enactments and subordinate legislation specified in these Regulations, and acting jointly in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 185(2)(e) and 190 of that Act, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Water (Consequential Amendments) Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 27th November 1989.

2. The enactments listed in column (1) of Schedule 1 to these Regulations are amended to the extent indicated in column (2) of that Schedule.

Section 3 (grant toward expenses of local and police authorities) of the Civil Defence Act 1948 |
In subsection (1) the words“, and towards expenses incurred by statutory water undertakers as defined in section one of the Water Act, 1948, not being local authorities, in or in connection with civil defence,” shall be omitted. |
Section 5 (byelaws for regulation, etc. of sea fisheries) of the Sea Fisheries Regulation Act 1966 |
Subsection (1)(c) shall be omitted. |
