1. Introduction
The rapid development of information
and communication technology has had
an influence on the industrial world. This
influence has brought a revolution to the
industrial world so that it is currently
reaching the industrial era 4.0 (Prasetyo
and Sutopo, 2017). This era was marked
by the rapid globalization and the
combination of information technology
and communication with conventional
technology to significantly increase
production efficiency and customer
service (Prasetyo and Sutopo, 2017). The
technology that is the basis of the 4.0
industrial revolution in Indonesia include
the Internet of Things, artificial
intelligence, human–machine interface,
robotic sensor technology, and 3D
printing technology (Kemenperin, 2019).
The application of these technologies
provides a great opportunity for software
development so that it can provide an
added value to a product to compete
globally, especially for Indonesia’s
superior local products.
Indonesia has one of the local superior
products, namely, batik, which has been
recognized as Warisan Budaya Tak Benda
by UNESCO (UNESCO Intangible
Cultural Heritage List) in 2009, which
reflects the cultural identity of the
Indonesian people (Kustiyah, 2017). At
present, batik is in the phase of
industrialization, where batik is produced
by printing or writing techniques
(Kustiyah, 2017). Batik has different
motifs according to the characteristics of
the place and the culture of the local
community. One type of batik in Indonesia
is Batik Semarangan, which has a motif
that is designated as a monumental
building or flora and fauna in the city of
Semarang. The making of the Batik
Semarangan motif still uses 2D printing
technology or writing techniques. Based
on the development of industry 4.0,
making batik motifs can be improved by
using 3D printing as the latest technology
in the batik industry.
In this study, 3D Batik motifs will be
generated from monumental objects in
Semarang, such as Lawang Sewu,
Blenduk Church, Sam Poo Kong
Temple, Tugu Muda and Buddhagaya
Watugong Temple. The process of
generating 3D motifs can be done using
a method, namely, triangle mesh. The
