The Windward Islands and Leeward Islands (Courts) (Amendment) Order in Council, 1960

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 4 of the Leeward Islands Act, 1956(a), and by the Dominica Act, 1938(b), and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

Citation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Windward Islands and Leeward Islands (Courts) (Amendment) Order in Council, 1960.

(2) The Windward Islands and Leeward Islands (Courts) Order in Council, 1959(c), and this Order may be cited together as the Windward Islands and Leeward Islands (Courts) Orders in Council, 1959 and 1960.

Amendment of section 20 of the Order of 1959

2. Section 20 of the Windward Islands and Leeward Islands (Courts) Order in Council, 1959, is amended as follows:—

(a) by the deletion of the words "and such other officers" in subsection (1) and the substitution therefor of the words "and such Deputy Registrars (if any)";

(b) by the substitution of a semi-colon for the full stop at the end of subsection (1) and the addition thereafter of the words "and there shall be in each such Colony such other officers of the said Courts as may be appointed for that Colony in accordance with any law in that behalf for the time being in force therein";

(c) by the deletion of the words "and other offices" in subsection (3) and the substitution therefor of the words "and the office of Deputy Registrar"; and

(d) by the deletion of subsection (4) and the substitution therefor of the following new subsection (4), that is to say—

"(4) Power to appoint a person to act in the office of Registrar or the office of Deputy Registrar for a Colony during any period during which it is vacant or the holder thereof is unable for any...
