Woman badly injured after being 'thrown from car' near Lanarkshire roundabout

Emergency services raced to the B7078 between Canderside Toll and Blackwood in Lanarkshire around 8.40pm last night (Friday)

Worried drivers raised the alarm after stopping to help the injured woman as she lay helpless on the road.

The 31-year-old woman, who had suffered a deep cut to her head and injuries to her feet, was aided by passers-by prior to the arrival of ambulance crews, the Daily Record reports. She was then rushed to hospital for treatment.

An eyewitness described seeing the car from which the woman had been allegedly thrown swerving erratically on the road with a passenger door open moments before the incident.

She said: "Sadly I witnessed the incident first hand as the lass was thrown somehow from the car next to me onto the road from a moving vehicle at about 30mph.

"In my passenger wing mirror I saw a white vehicle slip up the inside so quickly, I was thinking they were trying to cut me off just because of the speed they were going.

"But then in my wing mirror I clocked there was a door open on their passenger side.

"When I came back around the roundabout, where all this had happened, I saw what I initially thought was a big black bin bag, then realised it was a person."

The car in question then sped off before a number of passersby pulled in to help the woman and alerted the police.

The eyewitness continued: "I remember seeing the driver blasting off with the door flapping.

"The woman involved was curled up in the fetal position and had bare...
