These Regulations further amend the Royal Marines Terms of Service Regulations 1988. The effect of the amendments is to remove the requirement, in the case of a person who completes his period of initial training before attaining the age of 18 years, that he serves for 2 years 6 months from the date on which he attains that age before giving notice to transfer to the reserve. The amendments secure that the same requirement applies to all marines, namely that they serve for at least 2 years 6 months from completing their period of initial training before giving notice to transfer to the reserve.
