The Football Spectators (Prescription) Order 2000

Laid before Parliament 7th August 2000

Coming into force 28th August 2000

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 14(2), 18(1) and (2) and 22A(1) of the Football Spectators Act 19891, and section 3(1)(a) of the Football (Disorder) Act 20002, the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:

S-1 This Order may be cited as the Football Spectators...

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Football Spectators (Prescription) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 28th August 2000.

(2) In this Order “the 1989 Act” means the Football Spectators Act 1989.

S-2 The Orders set out in Schedule 1 to this Order are hereby...

2. The Orders set out in Schedule 1 to this Order are hereby revoked.

S-3 An association football match (in England and Wales) described...

3. An association football match (in England and Wales) described in Schedule 2 to this Order shall be a regulated football match for the purposes of Part II of the 1989 Act.

S-4 An association football match (outside England and Wales)...

4. An association football match (outside England and Wales) described in Schedule 3 to this Order shall be a regulated football match for the purposes of Part II of the 1989 Act.

S-5 The organisation established under section 57 of the Police Act...

5. The organisation established under section 57 of the Police Act 19963known as the Football Banning Orders Authority is hereby prescribed as the enforcing authority for the purposes of Part II of the 1989 Act.

S-6 The Chief Executive of the Football Association Limited shall...

6. The Chief Executive of the Football Association Limited shall be a prescribed person for the purposes of section 18(1) and (2) of the 1989 Act.

REGULATED FOOTBALL MATCHES IN ENGLAND AND WALES

As association football match—

a(a) in which one or both of the participating teams represents a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League, the Football Association Premier League or the Football Conference, or represents a club from outside England and Wales, or represents a country or territory; and

b(b) which is played—

(i) at a sports ground which is designated by order under section 1(1) of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 19754, or registered with the Football League or the Football Association Premier League as the home ground of a club which is a member of the...
