The Industrial and Provident Societies and Credit Unions (Electronic Communications) Order 2014

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 8 and 9 of the Electronic Communications Act 2000( 1), make the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Industrial and Provident Societies and Credit Unions (Electronic Communications) Order 2014 and comes into force on 6th April 2014.

Electronic submission of registration documents

2. In section 2 of the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965( 2) (registration of society) after subsection (2) insert-

"(2A) In the case of an application for registration of a society which is made by electronic means, the reference in subsection (1)(b) or (2) to two copies of the society's rules is to be read as being to a single copy of those rules.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends section 2 of the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965 (c.12)to allow those applying to register a society by electronic means to submit only one copy of the society's rules.

An impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the costs of business or the voluntary sector is foreseen.
