Civil Defence (Electricity Undertakings) Act, 1954

(2 & 3 Eliz. 2) CHAPTER 19

An Act to enable grants to be made in respect of measures taken to secure the due functioning of electricity undertakings in Great Britain in the event of hostile attack.

Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. In section thirty-nine of the Civil Defence Act, 1939(which provides for making grants towards approved expenses of public utility undertakers in taking measures to secure the due functioning of their undertaking in the event of hostile attack, but by virtue of subsection (3) does not apply in relation to an electricity undertaking), the words ‘or electricity undertaking’ in the said subsection (3) are hereby repealed; and section six of the Civil Defence Act, 1948(which confers power by regulations to revive and amend previous Acts relating to civil defence, including the Civil Defence Act, 1939), shall apply in relation to the said section thirty-nine as if that section had always had effect as amended by this Act.

2. This Act may be cited as theCivil Defence (Electricity Undertakings) Act, 1954, and this Act and the Civil Defence Acts, 1937 to 1948, may be cited together as the Civil Defence Acts, 1937 to 1954.
