Whereas under Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations the Security Council of the United Nations has, by a resolution adopted on 15th October 1999, called upon Her Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom and all other States to apply certain measures to give effect to a decision of that Council in relation to Afghanistan:

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1 of the United Nations Act 19461, is pleased, by and with the advice of her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

S-1 This Order may be cited as the Afghanistan (United Nations...

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Afghanistan (United Nations Sanctions) (Channel Islands) (Amendment) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 23rd December 1999.

(2) In this Order, “the Order” means the Afghanistan (United Nations Sanctions) (Channel Islands) Order 19992.

(3) This Order shall extend to the Channel Islands so as to be law, respectively, in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and in the Bailiwick of Jersey only.

S-2 In article 1(2) of the Order there shall be inserted after...

3. In article 2 of the Order for the definition of “police officer” there shall be substituted the following—

4. In article 3(2) of the Order there shall be inserted after the words “Sanctions Committee” the words “; and particulars of any such designation shall be published by the Secretary of State”.

5. In article 4(1)(a) of the Order there shall be inserted after the words “or a British National (Overseas)” the words “and is ordinarily resident in the Bailiwick of Guernsey or, as the case may be, the Bailiwick of Jersey”.
