The Agricultural Lime (Amendment) Scheme, 1955

In pursuance of the powers vested in them by Section 1 of the Agriculture Act, 1937(a) (as amended by Section 1 of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1943(b)), Section 97 of the Agriculture Act, 1947(c) and Section 2 of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1954(d) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Secretaries of State respectively concerned with agriculture in Scotland and Northern Ireland (being the Ministers within the meaning of the Agriculture Act, 1937), with the approval of the Treasury, hereby make the following Scheme:—

Citation, Commencement and Construction

1. This Scheme, which may be cited as the Agricultural Lime (Amendment) Scheme, 1955, shall come into operation on the first day of April, 1955, and shall be read as one with the Agricultural Lime Schemes, 1947 to 1953(e) (hereinafter referred to as "the Schemes"), and the Schemes and this Scheme may be cited together as the Agricultural Lime Schemes, 1947 to 1955.

Increase of Contributions

2. Notwithstanding sub-paragraph (a) of paragraph 21 of the Agricultural Lime Scheme, 1947, contributions made under the Schemes in respect of lime delivered on or after the date on which this Scheme comes into operation shall, except as provided in sub-paragraphs (b) and (c) of the said paragraph 21, represent as nearly as may be six tenths of the cost incurred or to be incurred in acquiring, transporting and spreading the lime on agricultural land.
