how we might undertake the dual strategy of both showing how the law shapes geological
life, and how the lawful relations emerge out of and work in concert with planetary pro-
cesses and systems. Clark and Szerszynskis important book, which develops new stra-
tegies for social theory in the context of todays climate crisis, helps establish the
coordinates at stake in taking up the Anthropocene challengefor law. As the climate
crisis continues to intensify and political mobilisations for climate justice gain traction,
taking up this challenge within socio-legal studies remains an urgent task.
