Burrough of Doncasters Case

trinity 7 jacobi. burrough of doncasters case. The burrough and town of Doncaster was incorporated time out of minde, and had ancient soake belonging to the same, extending into divers towns neer adjoyning, King Edward the Fourth, by his letters patents, reciting the same, anno regui sui, doth grant and confirm unto them, to be ever after, called, mayor and commonalty ; and by the name of Mayor and Communalty of Doncaster, doth grant unto them the said liberties, (ex certa scientia, & niero motu) and by a clause in the same patent, doth grant to the said mayor and communalty, amongst other things, that the mayor and his successors, should be a conservator of the peace within the said burrough, and further, as followeth : (videlicet) et ulterius de abundanti gratia nostra, concessirnus, & per prsesentes concedimus pro nobis & hteredibus nostris, prsefato majori, & commitat. & successoribus suis, quod idem major & successores in perpetuum habeant returrmm omnium brevium, mandatorum, prteceptorum, & billarum, nostrorum, nee non omni-modas summonitiones de scaccario nostro, & hseredum nostrorum & aliorum extractum quorumcunque exequendorum infra burgiam pr£edictam tarn ad sestam nostram, & hseredum nostrorum per nos, vel hseredes nostros solos, feu nos vel hseredes nostros conjuctira cum aliis personis, vel alia persona, quam ad sectam alterius cujuscunqua person* prosequendam, & omnimodas exeeutiones brevium, mandatorum, praecep-torum, billarum, summoniarum, & extractum priedictum, ita quod nullus viceoomes, coronator, escheator, balivus aut alius minister noster, vel hiBredum nostrorum burgam prsedictam ingrediaatur ad aliquod officium ibidem faciendum nisi in defectu ipsius majoris, vel successorum suorum.
