The institute has signed three deals with counterpart bodies around the world to promote its members' global employability.

Its agreement with the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) allows mutual advanced entry for students into both bodies' professional exams. It has also signed mutual recognition deals with CMA Canada and CPA Australia.

The ICWAI agreement was announced by Shri Prem Chand Gupta, India's minister for corporate affairs, at an event in New Delhi in January. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Kunal Banerjee, ICWAI's president; Sanjay Bhargave, chairman of its training education facilities and IT committee; Glynn Lowth, CIMA's president (pictured); Charles Tilley, its CEO; and Robert Jelly, its director of education.


A new CIMA professional gateway exam for students who have passed the whole ICWAI professional exam will provide a fast-track route to CIMA's strategic level, tests of professional competence and membership. CIMA students wishing to become members of ICWAI also gain a fast-track route.

"This historic collaboration will enable both institutes to highlight the benefits of a professional management accountancy qualification, to share best practice and to train and develop the global business leaders of the future," said Lowth.
