The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Whereas in exercise of the powers vested in Her by virtue of the Civil Aviation Act, 1949(a), Her Majesty was pleased to make the Colonial Civil Aviation (Application of Act) Order, 1952(b) (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Order"), extending certain of the provisions of the said Act, adapted and modified as provided in the principal Order, to the territories therein mentioned:
And Whereas section 13 of the said Act relates to the making of regulations for the licensing of air transport and commercial flying:
(a) 12, 13 & 14 Geo. 6. c. 67.
(b) S.I. 1952/868; 1952 I, p. 565.
And Whereas section 13 of the said Act, adapted and modified as provided in the principal Order, was one of the provisions of the said Act extended by the said Order to the territories therein mentioned:
And Whereas the East African Territories (Air Transport) Order in Council, 1945(a), and the West African Territories (Air Transport) Order in Council, 1946(b), respectively, provide for the making of regulations for the licensing of air transport and commercial flying in the territories mentioned in such Orders:
And Whereas it is expedient that the principal Order should be amended in manner hereinafter appearing:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the powers in that behalf by the Civil Aviation Act, 1949, or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered as follows:—
Short title and commencement
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Colonial Civil Aviation (Application of Act) (Amendment) Order, 1953.
(2) This Order and the principal Order may be cited together as the Colonial Civil Aviation (Application of Act) Orders, 1952 and 1953.
(3) This Order shall come into force on the thirtieth day of June, 1953.
Amendment of Article 2 of the principal Order
2. In paragraph (1) of Article 2 of the principal Order after the definition of "The East African Territories" there shall be inserted the following definition:—
"'The West African Territories' means those territories set out in the Third Schedule to this Order;".
