The Consumer Credit (Exempt Agreements) (Amendment) Order 1977

The Secretary of State, after consulting in accordance with subsections (3) and (9) of section 16 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974(a) with the persons therein referred to, in exercise of powers conferred on him by sections 16(1) and (4) and 182(2) and (4) of that Act and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Consumer Credit (Exempt Agreements) (Amendment) Order 1977 and shall come into operation on 1st October 1977.

2. The Consumer Credit (Exempt Agreements) Order 1977(b) is hereby varied—

(a) in Part I of the Schedule, in the list of Insurance Companies, in the entry relating to The Imperial Life Assurance Company of Canada Limited, by the omission of the word "Limited";

(b) in Part I of the Schedule, in the list of Insurance Companies, by the insertion (at the appropriate place in alphabetical order) of the following entries:—

"Abbey Life Assurance Company Limited"

"British National Life Insurance Society Limited"

"FS Assurance Limited"

"Langham Life Assurance Company Limited"

"Schroder Life Assurance Limited"

"Schroder Pensions Limited"

"Welfare Insurance Company Limited";

(c) in Part I of the Schedule, in the list of Friendly Societies, by the omission of the entry relating to Derby Provident Collecting Society; and

(d) in Part II of the Schedule, in the entries relating to Bodies corporate named or specifically referred to in a public general Act (United

(a) 1974 c. 39.

(b) S.I. 1977/326 (1977 I, p. 931).

Kingdom), in the entry relating to Livingstone Development Corporation, by the substitution for the word "Livingstone" of the word "Livingston".
