The Control of Goods (Import Certificates) Order, 1951

The Board of Trade in pursuance of the powers conferred upon them by Regulation 55 of the Defence (General) Regulations, 1939, as having effect by virtue of the Supplies and Services (Transitional Powers) Act, 1945(a), as extended by the Supplies and Services (Extended Purposes) Act, 1947(b), and the Supplies and Services (Defence Purposes) Act, 1951(c), and continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Continuance) Order, 1950(d), hereby order as follows:—

1. Except under the authority of a licence granted by the Board of Trade under this Article and in accordance with any condition attached thereto a person to whom an import certificate has been issued in relation to the export of any goods from any country shall not—

(a) import those goods or cause or permit them to be imported into any country other than the United Kingdom;

(b) dispose of those goods before they have been imported into the United Kingdom; or

(c) export those goods or cause or permit them to be exported from the United Kingdom after they have been imported into the United Kingdom.

2.—(1) An import certificate may be varied or revoked by the Board of Trade at any time.

(2) A person in the United Kingdom who has in his possession an import certificate which has been revoked or which has ceased to be valid shall surrender that import certificate to the Board of Trade forthwith.

3. In this Order "import certificate" means a document in the form set out in the Schedule hereto issued by the Board of Trade for the purposes of this Order.

4. This Order may be cited as the Control of Goods (Import Certificates) Order, 1951, and shall come into operation on the 14th day of June, 1951.
