clxxxiii.
An Act for separating for certain Purposes the
Borough of Belfast from the County of Antrim;
and for making better Provision respecting
Contribution by the Borough towards the
Expenses of the County; and for amending the
Provisions of certain of the Acts relating to
the Borough ; and for other Purposes.

HEREAS the Borough of Belfast is a Municipal Borough,
governed by the Mayor, Aldermen, and Burgesses of the
Borough (to whom the Term "the Corporation," when
hereafter used in this Act, refers), and regulated by the Acts relating
to Municipal Corporations in
Ireland:
And whereas the greater Part
of the Borough of Belfast is situate in the County of Antrim (a
certain Portion of it being situate in the County of Down): And
whereas such Part of the Borough of Belfast as is situate in the
County of Antrim forms Part of One of the Baronies of that County
called Upper Belfast: And whereas by an Act of the Session of the 8
