The County Courts Jurisdiction (Inheritance—Provision for Family and Dependants) Order 1978

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 22(1) of the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975(a), hereby makes the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the County Courts Jurisdiction (Inheritance—Provision for Family and Dependants) Order 1978 and shall come into operation on 1st March 1978.

2. The sum of £5,000 specified in section 22(1) of the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 shall be increased to £15,000.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Order.)

This Order increases the jurisdiction of the county courts in proceedings relating to a claim on a deceased person's estate by a relative or dependant under section 2 of the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
