THE
CERTIFICATES OF ARREST AND SURRENDER OF DESERTERS
AND ABSENTEES (ARMY) REGULATIONS, 1956. S.1.
NO.
657
OF 1956
THE SE regulations are made
under
section 189 of the Army
Act, 1955, and come into operation on
rst
January, 1957.
They
prescribe the form of certificate which
must
be handed
over with an absentee or deserter from the Army when he is
delivered into military custody as a result of proceedings
before acourt of summary jurisdiction.
They
also provide the
form of certificate to be handed over when an absentee or
deserter, who has surrendered himself to the police, is
delivered into military custody.
THE
OCCASIONAL LICENCES AND YOUNG PERSONS ACT, 1956
This
Act, which came into force on 5th September, 1956,
applies to the holder of an occasional licence, and to the place
where intoxicating liquor is sold
under
such a licence,
the
provisions of sections 127
and
129 of the Licensing Act, 1953,
which prohibit the employment in bars of, and restrict
the
supply of intoxicating liquor for consumption on the premises
to, persons
under
18 in England and Wales.
There
are corresponding provisions in respect of Scotland.
THE
MAGISTRATES' COURTS (APPEALS
FROM
BINDING
OVER
ORDERS) ACT, 1956
This
Act gives a right of appeal against orders of justices
made on or after 5th August, 1956, requiring persons to enter
into recognisances to keep the peace or be of good behaviour.
Section I(I) provides
that
where,
under
Justices of the Peace
Act, 1361, or otherwise, aperson is ordered by a magistrates'
court to enter into a recognisance with or without sureties to
keep the peace or to be of good behaviour he may appeal to
quarter sessions.
