THE ROAD VEHICLES (REGISTRATIONAND LICENSING) (AMENDMENT)
REGULATIONS, 1960.

THESE Regulations came into force on
rst
October, 1960,
and
further amend the Road Vehicles (Registration
and
Licensing) Regulations, 1955. Regulation 29 of
the
1955
Regulations (which relates to general trade licences) is amended
so as to provide
that
the
holder of such a licence may
not
use
it on a vehicle for a purpose connected with any social or
recreational activity connected with his business as a manufac-
turer
or repairer or dealer in vehicles.
THE MOTOR VEHICLES (TESTS) REGULATIONS, 1960.

These
Regulations make provision for the testing of
motor vehicles
under
section 65 of the Road Traffic Act, 1960,
and
for the issue of test certificates and notices of refusal of a
certificate.
Regulation 3applies
the
Regulations (subject to certain excep-
tions) to heavy motor cars, motor cars
and
motor cycles.
The
exceptions include goods vehicles over thirty hundredweights
unladen weight, public service vehicles adapted to carry eight
or more passengers, articulated vehicles and pedestrian con-
trolled vehicles.
Regulations 4to 8 deal with
the
appointment of authorised
examiners and impose conditions to be complied with by them.
Regulation 9provides
that
a vehicle tested
must
be examined
to ensure
that
it complies with requirements of
the
Motor
Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations, 1955, as to
brakes, steering gear and lighting equipment and reflectors.
Regulation
IO
sets
out
the way in which an application
must
be made for a test and how it is to be dealt with.
