The Customs Duties (ECSC) (Amendment) Order 1982

The Treasury, by virtue of the powers conferred on them by section 5(1) and (3) of the European Communities Act 1972(a) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, on the recommendation of the Secretary of State, hereby make the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Customs Duties (ECSC) (Amendment) Order 1982 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1983.

2. The Customs Duties (ECSC) Order 1981(b) shall be amended as follows:—

(a) in Article 2 (which provides that the Order shall apply to goods covered by the E.C.S.C. Treaty included in the Schedule of Customs Duties forming part of the common customs tariff of the European Economic Community and referred to in that Order and in this Order as "the CCT Schedule") the reference to the CCT Schedule shall be a reference to the CCT Schedule annexed to Council Regulation (EEC) No. 950/68(c) as last amended by Council Regulation (EEC) No. 3000/82(d);

(b) in Part II of Schedule 1

(i) before the word "Bahamas" there shall be inserted the words "Antigua and Barbuda";

(ii) in the entry relating to "West Indies Associated States (St. Kitts—Nevis, Antigua)" the word "Antigua" shall be deleted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order, which comes into operation on 1st January 1983, amends the Customs Duties (ECSC) Order 1981. Under that Order which charges customs duties in accordance with the unified ECSC tariff on certain ECSC products imported into the United Kingdom, the rates of duty are charged by reference to the Schedule of Customs Duties ("CCT Schedule") forming part of the common customs tariff of the...
