DIARY
The
Diary
of Events
which
appears
in every issue of
PROBATION
is specifically
intended
to
help
Branch
officials
to avoid
clashing
of events. Nevertheless, we still
have
unfortunate
overlapping
in
arrangements.
Will
Branch
officials please keep
an
eye' on
the
Diary
and
also
let
me
have
notes
for
it
as
early
as
they
can?
and
when
Branches
are
discussing
arrangements,
it will
help
if
some
bright
member
watches
the
Diary
in
case
the
Secretary
overlooks
it!
BACK NUMBERS WANTED
This
refers
to
the
Journal,
and
not
to
any

We
are
very
short
of copies of
PROBATION.'
for
July-
August
this
year
containing
the
first
part
of Mr.
Guest's
article
and
should be
glad
if
anyone
has
a
spare
copy

might
have,
please.
Much
more
serious, we
have
not
even a file copy
left
of
the
issue of
PROBATION
for March-April, 1950.
If
any
member
can
help
us by finding,
and
sparing
willingly,
a copy of
that
issue,
this
will' be a valuable
help
to
us

STATEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
The
Statement,
of,
Professional
Standards,
which
appeared
in
this
Journal
earlier
this
year,
was
circulated
for
discussion
at
the
Hastings
Conference,
and
there
accepted
with
a
request
that
an
effort
should
be
made
to
re-write
it
in
more
appropriate
and
nobler
language:
We
understand
that
a
number
of
attempts
to do
this
are
in
hand

we
should
be glad to see
these.
The
poetic version

not
be
taken
as
ruling
out

general
invitation

suitably.

Wlll officers
in
England
and
Wales kindly
note
this
and
