The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1(1) of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1967(a), hereby makes the following Order:—
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Divorce County Courts Order 1978 and shall come into operation on 2nd January 1979.
(2) The Interpretation Act 1978(b) shall apply to this Order as it applies to subordinate legislation made after the commencement of that Act.
2. For the purposes of section 1(1) of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1967 the county courts mentioned in Part I of Schedule 1 of this Order are hereby designated as divorce county courts and courts of trial and the court mentioned in Part II of Schedule 1 is hereby designated as a divorce county court.
3. In the case of the county courts mentioned in Column 1 of Schedule 2 (being courts held at more than one place) the jurisdiction conferred by virtue of paragraph 2 of this Order shall be exercised only at the places mentioned in Column 2 of that Schedule opposite the names of those courts.
4. The Orders specified in Schedule 3 are hereby revoked.
