Dock Workers (Pensions) Act, 1960

An Act to exclude the operation of the Truck Acts, 1831 to 1940, and the Shop Clubs Act, 1902, in relation to provisions concerning pensions under the Dock Workers (Regulation of Employment) Act, 1946.

Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

S-1 Validity of pension schemes for dock workers.

1 Validity of pension schemes for dock workers.

(1) Nothing in the Truck Acts, 1831 to 1940 , shall prevent the deduction, in pursuance of a scheme under the Dock Workers (Regulation of Employment) Act, 1946, of employees' contributions due under a pension scheme from the employees' wages or make invalid any provision for such deductions made under the said Act of 1946.

(2) For the purposes of the Shop Clubs Act, 1902 , a pension scheme to which effect is given under the said Act of 1946 shall not be deemed to constitute a shop club or thrift fund within the meaning of the Shop Clubs Act, 1902.

(3) In this section the expression ‘pension scheme’ means arrangements for providing retirement pensions for dock workers, with or without other benefits.

S-2 Short title and extent.

2 Short title and extent.

(1) This Act may be cited as the Dock Workers (Pensions) Act, 1960 .

(2) This Act shall not extend to Northern Ireland.
