New ways of working
These days, “goingto work” or “long-term service” no longermake sense as concepts.
Who does what, when, where, how, who with and even why, is quickly morphing into
unrecognisableshapes, not just to our ancestors but even to ourselves!
In this issue of Strategic HR Review,we share stories where organisations innovate in theway
work is done, significantlychallenging traditional models.
Above all, I would like to challenge the principle that people exchange their work for a fair
compensation. What if today’s lack of innovation, collaboration and engagement was just a
byproduct of what we tried to do during thepast 50 years, in an attempt to “motivate” people
to work?
What if, after all, Maslow’s hierarchy was fundamentally wrong when it told us that
self-actualisationwas to be at the top of our needs?
What if we managed to connect work back to life, forgetting the futile fight to keep them in
“balance”?
Enjoy the reading!
