Editorial announcement
The Editors are delighted to announce that the winner of the prize for the best research
article published in volume 21 of the European Journal of Political Theory is ‘The
meek and the mighty: Two models of oppression’, by Yuna Blajer de la Garza. In her
article, Blajer de la Garza explores how emotional narratives based on pity and fear
each contribute in distinct ways to the constitution and reproduction of systems of oppres-
sion. The prize was judged by a selection of the journal’s Associate Editors, who were
especially impressed by the way the article combines a historically rich and conceptually
precise analysis with a more creative and open-ended spirit of enquiry. The prize is dedi-
cated to the memory of Carlo Argenton and is generously funded by his family.
