In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Secretary of State by section 4(2) of the Education Act 19941the Secretary of State for Education and Skills hereby makes the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Funding for Teacher Training) Designation Order 2003 and shall come into force on 7th March 2003.

2. The Centre for Literacy in Primary Education, a charitable company limited by guarantee having the registration number 1092698 and Royal Academy of Dance, a registered charity having the number 312826 are hereby designated as bodies eligible for funding under Part 1 of the Education Act 1994.

This Order is made under section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994. It designates the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education and Royal Academy of Dance as institutions eligible for funding under Part 1 of the Education Act 1994.

As a result of the Order, the Teacher Training Agency may make grants, loans or other payments in respect of expenditure incurred or to be incurred by the designated institutions for the purposes of the provision of teacher training and the provision of facilities, and the carrying on of other activities, which the institutions consider it necessary or desirable to provide or carry on for the purpose of or in connection with the provision of teacher training.
