(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend paragraph 2 of Schedule 5 to the Education (Teachers) Regulations 1982. This Schedule sets out the circumstances in which a person shall be qualified to be employed as a teacher at a maintained or special school. These circumstances include, amongst others, satisfying the Secretary of State that he is a person who has successfully completed one of the courses listed in paragraph 2(a) which is approved as a course for the initial training of teachers in schools. The amendment changes this requirement to make it clear that the course must have been so approved at the time when the person completed it.
