The European Parliamentary Elections (Returning Officers) Order 1999
Made 23th March 1999
Coming into force 1st May 1999
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by paragraph 4(1)(a)(ii) and (b)(ii) of Schedule 1 to the European Parliamentary Elections Act 1978, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the European Parliamentary Elections...
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the European Parliamentary Elections (Returning Officers) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 1st May 1999.
(2) In this Order a reference to an electoral region or a constituency is a reference to that region or constituency as it is for the time being.

2. The returning officer at a European Parliamentary election for the electoral region in England specified in the left-hand column of the Schedule to this Order shall be the person who is the acting returning officer at a parliamentary election for the constituency specified opposite thereto in the right-hand column of that Schedule.

3. The returning officer at a European Parliamentary election for the electoral region of Scotland shall be the person who is the returning officer at a parliamentary election for the Edinburgh South constituency.
