ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

The Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (No.2) Order 1996

Made 28th May 1996

Laid before Parliament 10th June 1996

Coming into force 1st July 1996

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 153(4) of the Environmental Protection Act 19901and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

S-1 Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (No.2) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 1st July 1996.

S-2 Variation of section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990

Variation of section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990

2. In section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 19902, the following paragraph shall be inserted after paragraph (dd):–

“(ee)

“(ee) the programme known as the Sustainable Action Fund.”.

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order varies section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 so as to enable the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, to give financial assistance for the purposes of the grant programme known as the Sustainable Action Fund. The objectives of this programme are to fund research, demonstration projects and other relevant activities in support of sustainable development in Scotland.


(2) Section 153(1) was amended by S.I.1991/146, 682 and 1179, 1992/654, 1993/1062 and 1518, 1995/150, 554, 1085 and 3099 and 1996/505.
